Pre-Birthday Day
@ 9:53 PM
Birthdays are what you always look forward to every year. Last year I countdown my birthday. This year, 1 week before my birthday, I announce to the aunties & uncles at work. Everyday I remind them.
Today I did the same thing; reminding them. Then I went back to my usual self, still engrossed in my work. Just in the late afternoon, I asked my colleague if we're having meeting, then went out of my room to collect something. Every room is secured and you need a pass that needed to be scanned in order to unlock the door. I scan once. It did not work. Twice. And a few more times. I gave a knock. Stare at the door dumbly. Scan. Knock. Scratch head. Scan. Nothing. I thought it must be something wrong again with the power line since its a newly renovated office. And the door open alas. The room was dark. I thought. Great, another power trip. It did not occur to me that only my room is dark and everyone looking at me. I just casually stroll in to walk to my space. Then I stopped. Everyone really looking at me this time. I'm like thinking "What's wrong.?"
And they sang a birthday song for me. And I saw the lit cake. It was so unexpected. That was fun, and a little bit embarrassing, though. But I don't remember my birthday wish. Or did I make any? Or was it a few wishes running across my mind at the same time? It doesn't matter. Not my actual birth date anyway.
Nadiah.
